THE VELVET UNDERGROUND
The Velvet Underground foi uma banda de rock americana formada em Nova Iorque em 1964. A formação original consistia no cantor e guitarrista Lou Reed, o multi-instrumentista John Cale, o guitarrista Sterling Morrison e o baterista Angus MacLise. MacLise seria substituído por Moe Tucker em 1965, que tocou na maioria das gravações da banda. Sua integração do rock e da vanguarda alcançou pouco sucesso comercial durante a existência do grupo, mas agora são reconhecidos como uma das bandas mais influentes do rock, underground, experimental e música alternativa. O assunto provocativo do grupo, os experimentos musicais e as atitudes muitas vezes niilistas também se mostraram influentes no desenvolvimento do punk rock e da música new wave. Wikipedia
